LOCAL GALLERY SERVES UP INTERNATIONAL FLAVOURS
Fortwenty Gallery proudly presents “3 the Art way”, an impressive collection of artworks by three very talented artists with complementary, yet distinctly different backgrounds and styles from 3 – 10 September 2009.
Featuring one-off, pick-of-the-litter works from a vast collection of exceptional paintings by Polish born, Queensland resident Cezary Stulgis, who’s highly sought after paintings and sculptures can be found in busy public spaces from Queensland’s coastal towns to Brisbane’s CBD.
“Fundamentally, I am interested in questioning the basis for our values, our freedom/s, our knowledge and self worth. My work draws on questions surrounding the human condition, society, identity, and the underlying complex dialogue between these finely intertwined mechanisms.” Stulgis says of his work.
Visiting German artist Jeroo is internationally recognised for his competition winning style and since arriving in Brisbane has worked around the clock (from The Fort Arts Hub) on this amazing Australian debut.
“My canvas style is a mixture of graffiti, art noveaux and comic. To me art should display skill and beauty, harmony and daring, with good composition and dedication to detail. As an internationally known aerosol artist I have found the art scene is just as fucked as the pop music industry, it is not style and skill that make you a successful artist, but mere self profiling and brown nosing. This has made me decide not to pursue the life of a professional artist”.
Local artist Sam Hill, who’s frustrations with what he was and wasn’t learning in his art studies, has since adopted a more hands on freelance approach to his work which includes tattoos, skate designs, and large scale murals.
“My work is a hybrid of various artistic styles which are often frowned upon or somewhat not accepted by the general art world. I like to take the raw industrial expressions of street art and the clandestine styles of modern and traditional tattoo design out of their natural environments”.
Local curators Fortwenty have successfully merged these incredible talents together for an impeccable one-week-only showcase of multi-disciplined artwork with international zest.
